Question:
Is it bad to raise children
in a lesbian relationship?
Studies have
shown that there is little or no difference as far as the mental health of children
raided in either a lesbian or straight relationship.
I will say that
when I helped to raise my stepdaughter, it was darned hard on her because of how
society treats gay people. She had to drop out of high school because another
girl, whose mother was also lesbian, started telling everyone that my stepdaughter's
mother was gay–that ol’ finger pointing routine again. It was devastating
for my stepdaughter, to say the least, but she did turn out great. I received
a card from her yesterday, where she wrote “I am ever grateful for your presence
in my life. With much love...”
You can also search Google for the
words “same sex parents“ or "lesbian parents" and see read
the latest research and articles on the subject. The thing to be careful of is
that the highly religious tend to try to push off screwed info as scientific research.
Like, giving mostly opinion that appears to be fact and then giving a few lines,
or parts of lines from a study to back up their stuff. They also quote the bible.
I then really question how scientific their “study” can be when they
are quoting scripture as they are looking to support homosexuality as bad.
Another thing to watch out for is those that have this type of agenda and
present information in a researched format, but it is really done to support the
idea that gay parenting is bad. The thing with statistics is you can use them
to support or refute anything. An example is when I worked with a guy named Brent
who used to teach statistics in high schools. I was telling him about a website
that used statistics to form a correlation between the rise in crime in Chicago
and those orange and white traffic barrels on the roads. The evidence presented
on this website were that these barrels were full of evil, and that is what caused
the crime rate to soar. Brent said that he could have used that for the purpose
I mentioned above--to show that statistics can be used to prove or disprove anything...
