Happy PRIDE Month to You All!

GLBT Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity, and to support civil liberties for all people worldwide. We hope that you all will have a chance to attend some local events.

Here at Amazing Dreams we are celebrating Lesbian/Bi Women Pride by providing you with some great new Ecard designs and amazing new services. You can see our new services and links to them in this newsletter.

For those of you who do not know the origins of GLBT Pride Month, we've included a bit of information on this very pivotal event that happened over 30 years ago:

THE ORIGIN OF GLBT PRIDE MONTH
The yearly celebration of GLBT Pride Month started from a terrible situation that happened in a bar named Stonewall Inn, which is located in Greenwich Village, NYC. It was June 27, 1969, and the regular crowd was gathered at the Inn, when suddenly NYC police officers and the New York Beverage Control Board agents raided the bar for the second time in a week. Raids on gay establishments were commonplace, and gay people were physically forced out of these places, and many times they were beaten and arrested for no reason. As usual, the officers raided the Stonewall Inn, spewing homophobic remarks and demanding to see the patrons' IDs.

Gay people had just about had enough, and on this hot night both lesbians and gay men, some in full drag, fought back against the police raids for the first time. When the patrons at the Stonewall Inn erupted into an enraged confrontation, word spread quickly throughout Greenwich Village bringing more people into the streets. Many were arrested during the rebellion. This fueled the fire on the long-simmering anger of the gay and lesbian community, which suddenly surfaced in a rolling boil. For three days, outraged crowds rioted in the streets in the name of gay liberation. Many people funneled their anger into political action with organized groups to protest the mistreatment constantly inflicted on the gay community. These protests were called the Stonewall Rebellion. Because of the bravery of a few, people began realizing the horrible treatment GLBT people had suffered, and gays and lesbians began a political movement to secure our basic civil rights, which is still going on to this day.

To celebrate these heroic acts, an annual parade is held each year in New York City and Los Angeles on the last Sunday in June. The first parade was held in June of 1970, and has since marked the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion. In March of 2000, The Stonewall Inn was declared a National Historic Landmark, and is known as the true birthplace of lesbian/gay civil rights movement in the United States.

AND GET THIS! If you look up lesbian coming out support, Amazing Dreams Publishing is number one and two in Google. We are on the first page of the number one search engine in the world out of 1,980,000 other website with these words!!!! No wonder we are getting so many new members, and this is absolutely amazing--the universe is looking out for us in ways we never imagined.

NEW SERVICES
This Month we have a new GLBT Comic Strip; new Lesbian & PRIDE Ecard Designs and Sensual Ecard Designs from Mandy; and over 200 brand new Lesbian and Fantasy Women posters and Lesbian Magnets. We now have a total of 58 Lesbian Networking Groups--one in every US state, and several more in English Speaking Countries. These groups have only been online for a month, and we already have 370 members! Our Lesbian/Bi Woman Online Support Group now has 160 members. We are providing a service for women worldwide, and two of our members recently wrote these notes of appreciation:

"This group means the world to me. I was in the depths of hell when I came across the website and requested membership. I was also very close to committing suicide as I felt I had nowhere to turn. This group changed it all. The members gave me a reason to hope, to want to go on, and most important of all I was able to get hooked up with a Therapist....My life is a million times better! I am stronger, and for the first time in 23 years, I am happy! Today I turned 47 but in many ways it's a real 'birth day.' I am in control of my life and loving every minute of it."

"I draw strength from just knowing that although we all have unique stories or experiences, I am part of a group that shares one thing in common--we are all dealing with coming out. The support the members give each other is amazing, and they have helped me realize that its OK to not only be me, but celebrate who I am."

58 NEW NETWORKING GROUPS
LESBIAN NETWORK is our free networking service for Lesbians, Bisexual, and Bi-Curious Adult Women. All such women ages 18 to 118 are welcomed free. We are setting up lesbian/bi women networking groups for every state in the US, and many English speaking countries. These free groups are for women to find a supportive community in their own areas, a thing we all desperately need in the finger-pointing, prejudiced times we are going through now. Join us for fun and friendship. Chat with other women locally and worldwide. Make new friends on and off-line.
