BAD NEWS
Things have been tough here. We had one of our sweet cats get very sick, and she quickly went down in the last two weeks. Boogerman Todd lost her fight for life last Friday. For our list members who are animal lovers, you know how hard this is; very sad and shocking, and also the reason the newsletter is late.

GOOD NEWS
The good news is that our friend Mac is finally out of the hospital! We raised around $5,000 for him, a drop in the bucket for a seven week stay in the hospital with no insurance, but at least he will have money to live on and recuperate. Thanks to all who donated to our friend and mentor in his hour of need.

UNUSUAL NEWS ABOUT OUR LOGO
We receive emails from people all the time concerning our website and the services we provide women worldwide. Around 99% of these emails are positive, but occasionally we do receive some that are not so great. We did receive one that was totally unexpected last month that had to do with our logo and how scary it was, so we thought it may be a good thing to let people know what the logo means and why it was chosen for our company:

I VOTE NOOOO FOR THE GRAPHIC OF THE FACE IN THE TRIANGLE. BECAUSE OF IT, I WILL NOT USE YOUR SITE. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? IF YOU RAN INTO THIS PERSON ON THE STREET IT WOULD FRIGHTEN THE CRAP OUT OF YA!

OUR RESPONSE:
Dear _______,

That is our logo, and a woman within a black triangle is a very powerful thing. The black triangle represents lesbian rights, and the woman is dressed in a white shawl to protect herself from the evilness of the world. That's what we were thinking. The question is what are you thinking it means? In 5 years of us being in business we have never had anyone have such a negative reaction to our logo. It's too bad you won't visit our website, because we provide more resources for women worldwide than most any other website on the Internet.

We posted this situation to our coming out group and asked the question,"Do you all find the logo so scary that you would never visit the website?" W e received several responses including the following:

"It is funny you ask this question. The logo is different and original. You really give the logo a second look, and it has an impact on the visitors to your pages and for your business as well. This is my point. Regardless of the meaning that you have explained, a logo symbolizes and means something to the person that looks at it that has to do with everybody's background. In my case, I took it as artistic and very creative on your part. Later on, it became a symbol for honesty. I trust you and I trust your web page so I do not hesitate to place my orders and purchase the products. The logo for me has become your reputation and your hard work. You can look at it this way, scary for someone who is not at ease with herself, powerful for those of us who do not fear our lesbianism and feel empowered by your strength."

We certainly hope that our logo is not scary to anyone on our list, and if it is, we hope that this explanation calms your fears. Our logo is also the first 3-D Goddess artwork that our founder, Tracey Stevens, ever created. It is an important symbol to us, as it represents her vision of power and strength for our community.
