October 2006 Forecast

By the time this column is in your hot little hands, you may still be reeling from the last Eclipse around the Equinox but for sure, you may have really cleaned up your collective acts. That's a really good thing, because one year ends and the next begins on Halloween.

The veil is so thin at this time that our Ansisters roam freely, bringing us news and healing from the other side! Meanwhile the October 6th Full Moon in Aries is always a very challenging one.

The ancients called this one the Blood Moon, and for good reason as the full moon in the sign Aries can bring out the Martian i.e. violent side of some people. It is a good night generally to stay away from groups, particularly if they tend to be of in aggressive nature.

The kicker is this month, at the time of the full moon, the Sun is flanked by Venus and Mars all in the sign of Libra giving us the urge to merge. What can I say, but play nice and make love not war. Send up loving prayers for the planet which can certainly use all the loving it can get. Remember each of us matters. How we conduct ourselves does send out a ripple effect from us, so let that ripple create a bliss wave for us all! Surf's UP!

MERCURY RETROGRADE
Mercury will turn retrograde on Oct 28 and continue on its backward path until Nov 17, so mark your calendars and tweak your intuition to circumvent some of the difficulties that could arise. Also, on these dates when the energies are totally shifting, be extra careful when driving or in the maintenance of your vehicle as it is prime-time for accidents and malfunctions.

This can be a time when all becomes a muddle of misunderstandings on all levels. The reason for this is that the energy of Mercury, the planet that deals with communication, electronics, machinery, media, the nervous system, and general processing of information, must first go inward before moving out again. From the earth's vantage point, it appears to move backwards. Because of this, all manner of communication gets much slower and less clear. This cycle occurs 3 times every year for 3 weeks at a pop. During which time it is best not to make ANY SERIOUS LONG TERM PLANS, PURCHASES, OR SIGN ANYTHING BINDING. You won't have all the needed information to make a well-balanced decision, and some pieces of information may even be hidden from you at this time.

This is rarely, if ever, some sinister plot; just a case of your application being accidentally deleted or misplaced, your date meeting you at the wrong Starbucks, or showing up on the wrong date but the right time; I think you see where I am going with this. It is best to double and triple check everything of this nature that you have to do during the retro.

Sometimes even knowing and trying your best to get around the retro can be in vain. I remember planning Gainesville's first Take Back the Night Rally. I noticed that it was falling during a retro and tried to explain this matter to the women who were sitting staring at me with blank faces. After some of the fiascoes that occurred, they listened to me. Not the least of the problems that occurred was the city double booking our venue for the day and time of our event with the Navy Band!

Contracts during this time are not worth the paper they are written on, and new big purchases are often are lemons in disguise. So, you might ask, what the hell am I supposed to do for 3 weeks? Twiddle my thunks?? Not at all. This can be a great time for organization, simplification, clearing, and collecting data, so that when mercury turns direct, you will be ready to go with the new flow successfully, instead of pushing the river when all was moving backwards.
Some good things can happen during the retro as well. Missing items, people, or lovers can suddenly appear usually to finish up old business. Like all astrological aspects, the retrograde can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how it is handled, and how much wisdom you bring to bear on the situation.

Yo don't need to be frightened by the approach of Mercury Retrograde, merely get your world in order, close the pending deals, plans, applications, etc. Start the new things that you have been procrastinating over, so that they can fly before the retrograde can clip their wings, or send them tumbling to the ground! Murky Mercury can be your friend when you learn to negotiate its patterns.

I'm feeling almost sweet these days, quite out of character but I am sure getting a lot more dates. I better watch my temper on the 6th and not let my emotions control me. Feeling like I have tunnel vision and the only video is me racing a freight train.
