theory, I find it useful. Look forward to receiving

Message: "I am seriously interested in becoming
a moderator for the Texas
Lesbian Networking group. Im came out to everyone
in September, but came out to myself in January. Im
in the process of a divorce, so I really cannot do it until
that is final, probably in February. This is a great nurturing,
safe place on the net for lesbians, and I want to contribute
to it, knowing how vital it is for women to have that support
system, especially when they are coming out. Let me know
what I can do!" Pam
Message: "Hello, I was wondering how would
someone go about getting reviewed by your magazine? One
of my favorite musicians, Nedra
Johnson, has released a new album earlier this year
and I want to help her promote it since she is an independent
artist who I admire and respect deeply. I have such a reverence
for independent artist, especially those who are out,
because their music comes from a deeper place. They are
not willing to sacrifice their true self and integrity to
fit into mainstream media. I imagine that being an independent
lesbian artist is not very glamorous, but it is a labor
of love and they get paid in other ways. I feel that my
role in the lesbian and women community, is to help this
artist, and others, in whatever ways I can. Nedras
music is so empowering! Shes a multi-instrumentalist
and has written all of her songs, well she does have one
remake of "Amazon," originally written and sung
by Womens Music Pioneer, Maxine Feldman. Nedra has
received really good reviews so far on her latest album,
self titled "Nedra" and on her first album called,
"Testify." She has played at Women, Folk and Jazz
music festivals both nationally and internationally. Her
music is a delicious blend of Blues, Jazz, Folk, Funk, R&B
and Gospel. She creates all forms of imagery with her very
honest, bold and brave songs. She mixes the political with
the erotic and spiritual. The links in my signature will
take you to Nedras site where you can read more about
her, her previous reviews and listen to her music.Nedra
not only empowers through her music, but by proactively
taking part in community building when the opportunity arises.
She has performed at benefits for breast cancer, victims
of the Katrina tragedy, Kay Gardner Memorial Festival Fund
and most recently, has offered to perform at a dog benefit
for the non profit dog rescue organization that I volunteer
for, Stray From The Heart (www.strayfromtheheart.org).
The benefit is on December 1st, in case you or any animal
lovers you know might be interested in attending or donating
something to our goodie bags or raffle. : ) If you read
this far, thank you profusely! I also want to thank you
for your time and giving our community a voice. I love your
website! I hope to hear from you!!" Nana
Message: "Good Morning, I am writing to ask
if you might be interested in looking at a game I created,
produced and sold called "CEST La Vie: The Game
of Lesbian Life." I ran one printing of the game (2,000
copies) and my partner and I marketed and sold it in the
mid-nineties. The game sold very well, and was carried by
bookstores across the nation and in Canada. However, at
that time, Internet sales were not a big option and continuing
to produce, market and sell the games ourselves was more
effort than we could commit to, so we only did one run of
the game. It is an excellent game that was well-received
by all who played. I would very much like to see it back
on the market, and so I am looking for a publisher who would
be interested in producing it. It is extremely unique; I
have never seen anything like it anywhere. I have all the
printers files and am looking for a buyer who will buy the
rights to the game. If you are interested, or may be able
to recommend someone who would be, I would be happy to hear
from you. Thank you for your time." Joanne

Message: "Dear Amazing Dreams, I am writing
in hopes that you may be able to put me in contact with
some visual artist for a publication Umbrage Editions (NYC)
is putting together called Amazons & Sirens: A Visual
History of Lesbianism. We are currently looking for lesbian
identified photographers to submit artwork for our book.
Below is more about our project. Amazons & Sirens: A
Visual History of Lesbianism Exploring the most intimate
and romantic of relationships between women, Amazons &
Sirens will be the first of its kind: an elegantly original,
luxurious large-format book on the visual history of lesbianism.
The primary focus of this illustrated volume will concentrate
on the 20th century, which has seen the rise of a vibrant
lesbian presence like no other era. The photographs in Amazons
& Sirens will strive to document this important emergence
presenting both how lesbians have been depicted by others
and the self-actualization of their own image-creating visibility,
avoiding stereotyping, and circumventing ignorance. While
a few books by and for lesbians detailing their history
exist, nothing like the lavish visual treatment of Amazons
& Sirens has yet been published. It is sure to be received
by women who love women with acclaim. UMBRAGE EDITIONS is
a New York-based award-winning publisher and packager of
provocative visual books and multimedia projects including
high-quality visual books, traveling exhibitions, and multimedia
projects. Umbrage projects vary in subject matter from classic
photojournalism to cutting-edge art, from pop culture to
global human rights. If you know of any photographers who
may want to be included in Amazons, I would love to get
in contact with them. Please feel free to check out our
website at www.umbragebooks.com
or e-mail me with any questions regarding the book."
Thank you, Cora
