Message: "I like the idea of having e-cards for women by women. I find most Ecard sites cover general needs, and it’s nice to have a place where women have a selected choice for women only. Where to begin? First, I consider myself an OWL. A term that I first heard in 1978, Older Wiser Lesbian. I had always known that I was a Lesbian, even though I had never heard the ""word"" I just knew that my spirit guides were women and my life was guided by female forces. It was O.K. to be a girl that is strong. I chose to have children so when I was 19 I moved from a small town in Minnesota to San Francisco!! Where else? I selected my choice of "father material" (not to be cold, I loved the man, but, knew that I wanted children, and in 1962 I didn’t know you could just have kids.) I was a good mother, and wife, and after 15 years I told my 2 sons that I was leaving their father, not them, and moving in with some wonderfully ""gay"" friends. I opened my home to many and involved myself in the S.F Women’s apprenticeship program, where women could get jobs in nontraditional fields. I worked as a maintenance mechanic, and many other positions typically not held by women. I think now after so many years, I see how women helped me, I would like to do whatever I can to help those coming up the ranks. I think there have been doors opened and many more to open. If there is something I can do to help out, I would like to do just that. I am 61 now, and have been with Joni for 16 years, this lifetime. I know we have been together in past lives, the connection is so great and we have our problems, but, we are always learning ""new things"" and are growing as senior lesbian women. In fact, I could enlarge that circle to include a great number of groups that could reinvent our national community for the humane better. Wouldn’t it be interesting if it turned out to be the GLBT community that did just that."
