Our

we didn't have the exact Ecard you were looking for. We
will have to see if our artists will design some for anniversaries.
We do have a lot of Ecards that might be appropriate for
that, like rose and flower designs. We also just installed
new women's music on our Ecards this morning. It is still
a bit tinny, but it's the best we could find. We have
the Google Search on many of our website pages, including

I'd let you all know that we just put up some new women's
music on our Ecards! The music is still a bit tinny, it's
hard to find decent midi files, but at least we've got
some music from Melissa Etheridge, KD Lang, Patsy Cline,
Heart, Madonna, Olivia Newton John, Stevie Nicks, and
a few others. The new music is available on all of our
over 1,000 Ecards, which were designed by amazing artists,

over 70 photographs along with quotes from the people photographed
and other pertinent quotes. The book sells for $29.95. You
can order it from me, or from my website.

A presentation called Life in Oz is also available for a

well. It lasts about 40 minutes and I have ending comments

of information about the gay community as well as about
my photographs.

"YOUR SITE IS A GREAT ONE I MUST SAY, BUT WHY
DON'T YOU HAVE HOLIDAYS ECARDS ??? I LOVE YOUR GAY AND LESBIAN
ECARDS--THANK YOU"
Our
Response: Thanks for taking the time to email
us. We have over 1,000 free Ecards, and we do have some
holiday Ecards available:

http://www.amazingdreamspublishing.com/valentinesday.html
http://www.amazingdreamspublishing.com/motherdayecards.html
http://www.amazingdreamspublishing.com/halloweenecards.html

Valentine's, Mother's Day, and Halloween are the only
ones we've been able to get our artists to contribute
designs for. We also work hard at doing inclusive designs
for everyone. If we started doing Ecards for say, the
holidays in December, then we get into the situation of
having to design Ecards for everyone who celebrates these
holidays in different ways: like Festivus, Soltice, Christmas,
Quanza, and Haunakha.
If you happen to know of an artist who would like to contribute
designs for all these holidays, we'd sure appreciate her
contact information. We'd love to have more Ecards that
would serve everyone's needs : )

"I am Ellen Dean author of Beautiful Strangers
my recently published lesbian novel. I love the colours
on your site, and it's easy to find what your looking for
except I notice my book isn't offered for sale. I do hope
you feel able to include it. If you go to my website www.ellendean.co.uk
you will learn more about the book and be able to read some
reviews."
Our
Response: Dear Ellen, At this time we are publishing
only lesbian non-fiction. We will eventually publish lesbian
fiction, but not until next Fall. As far as listing other
people's work on our website, we only list nonfiction
that is available through Amazon.com. If your book is
not listed on Amazon.com, then we can market your book
from our website with a link back to your website for
$120 a year. This includes a paragraph in our newsletter
that goes out to over 4,000 women worldwide. Our website
receives over 2 million accesses a month from over 150,000
visitors. This service will be available in the near future.
If you are interested, please sign up for our monthly
newsletter, and we will let you know when that
portion of our company is live on our website.
Message: "I have recently written a short story
that a few friends have read and told me that I should get
it published.
If you could advise me and maybe give me some pointers that
would be much appreciated. Great site by the way."
Our
Response: Most novels run between 60,000 -
100,000 words, so it would depend on your word count as
to how you should proceed. At this time, Amazing Dreams
Publishing is only producing non-fiction self-help books.
The only place we know that is publishing short lesbian
stories is The Royal Academy of Bards:

www.academyofbards.org

Not sure if they are doing anything other than Xena-related
stories or not, but it's worth a look and you may be able
to contact them for other ideas.

If you want to get your book out there now and handle
it yourself, Booksurge.com is a wonderful asset:

www.booksurge.com/publishingprograms/

That's who we use as our POD book distributor, and it's
the easiest and most economical way to do this. Booksurge
is also owned by Amazon, so you would have an easy way
to be listed with them. The good thing about Booksurge
is that they only charge $99 if you can submit a PDF of
your typeset book. Not bad if you have the experience
or know a graphic designer who can typeset and do a nice
cover for your book.

Here are simple pros and cons of having your book published
by a publisher:

Pros of having your book published by a publisher:
They do the setup and layout work, have distribution channels,
and will sometimes pay you an advance and a little bit
per copy sold. To give you an idea of how much you may
get per book, the author of the book "Chicken Soup
for the Soul" received 25 cents for each copy of
his first book that he sold. His first book was sold through
a mainstream NY publisher.

Cons of having your book published by a publisher:
Unless you are very famous, most times the author has
to do all the marketing herself. This can include everything
from setting up and doing book signings, contacting bookstores,
marketing online, etc. You put out the money in marketing
to make sure that the publishers keep your book on the
shelves. If your book doesn't sell, most publishers will
pull it from the store shelves, and they will own the
rights to not produce anymore books until your contract
is finished.

If you sign with a publisher, please take all these things
into consideration. Our mentor, who has written some of
the largest selling GLBT books in history, had to go through
a horrible time with her publisher when they would not
allow her to have the rights to her own work. She had
to hire lawyers, and buy back the rights of work that
was not being marketed.

If you did your own work and set it up as a downloadable
PDF Ebook, you could sell this from your website. You
get to keep all the profits, besides a small amount given
back to Paypal, or whoever you choose to use as your payment
gateway. If you want to know how to make money on your
website, we've got ideas set up on our design site here:

www.adgraphicdesign.com/adgraphicdesign/affiliatelinks.html

If you would like to know more about self-publishing or
how to set up your manuscript for publishers, check out
this site:

www.snowdeneditorial.com/resources9.html

They have a downloadable PDF that has a lot of great information
on self-publishing. You also might think about having
your book and any query letters you may write to presses
edited by these folks. If you send a query letter or manuscript
to any publisher and it is not as perfect as you can get
it (without plot problems, typos, or grammatical errors)
you will most likely be rejected.
