Our Response: How much money to print a paperback totally depends on which company you go with to produce your book. If you go with Booksurge, which is who we use, you will be listed on Amazon, because Amazon purchased Booksurge a few years back. Here's more information on Booksurge: http://tinyurl.com/6fla4u

Getting a book into print is only one thing. Before that happens it will need to be professionally edited. We use Snowden Editorial: http://www.snowdeneditorial.com/

And then of course there is the marketing of the book, which can include a website that is Search Engine Optimized, something we specialize in: http://www.adgraphicdesign.com

There's also putting together a press package that includes a copy of the book, and then sending that out for review 3 months before the official publication date, which is not cheap, but if you want to do it right then that is the way to go. You would have to send it to all the lesbian magazines, and many of the gay newspapers in the country and Canada.

You also need to get reviews of your book before it ever goes into print. You can start out with collegues, and hopefully get good reviews from the press packets you sent out.

You will also need to do a marketing packet and send it to all the LGBT Bookstores in the US and Canada, which sadly is not very many. If you go into a chain bookstore, like Barnes and Nobel, you will have to supply books to them for below wholesale costs, and also take returns on any shelf-worn books--something we could not afford to do here, as one large nation-widereturn would bankrupt us.
